general information
The second of the two vocal collection albums, Love Will Grow, was released on xx month year. The album is comprised of various music from the first six Final Fantasy games accompanied by the voice of Risa Ohki in various languages — English, Japanese, French, and Portuguese.
Unfortunately, the album is out of print and is not available on the iTunes music store or the Square-Enix music store, so finding it isn't easy. If you possibly can, though, get a copy; it's a beautiful album.
The track listing is as follows:
- Long Distance
- Yuukyuu no Kaze
- Have You Ever Seen Me?
- Valse des Amoureux
- GAIA
- Tooihino Nagori
- Harukanaru Kokyou
- Estrelas
- Kami no Yurikago
- Love Will Grow
- Prelude
further information on the songs
1. Long Distance
Language: Japanese
Song: Main Theme of Final Fantasy IV
From: Final Fantasy IV
Notes: I don't think the original song transfers to an orchestra well, so I think the power the original has is largely dulled. This is a nice song, though.
2. Yuukyuu no Kaze (Eternal Wind)
Language: Portuguese
Song: Eternal Wind
From: Final Fantasy III
Notes: The song name is in Japanese, but the song is in Portuguese. Makes no sense to me. o_o;
3. Have You Ever Seen Me?
Language: English
Song: Cute Little Tozas
From: Final Fantasy III
Notes: This is by far the most upbeat song from both vocal collections.
4. Valse des Amoureux (Lover's Waltz)
Language: French
Song: Waltz Suomi
From: Final Fantasy V
Notes: I'm positive this song is based on the waltz song from FFV, but I cannot for the life of me remember a waltz of any sort in FFV... *scratches head*
5. GAIA
Language: Japanese
Song: Main Theme
From: Final Fantasy I
Notes: I can barely hear the original song in this, but that might be because I rarely listen to FFI music.
6. Tooihino Nagori (Remnants of Distant Days)
Language: Japanese
Song: This Day Will Come
From: Final Fantasy V
Notes: I'm not entirely sure I have the right translation for this, but it seems right so I'm going with it.
7. Harukanaru Kokyou (My Home, Sweet Home)
Language: "Japanese"
Song: My Home, Sweet Home
From: Final Fantasy V
Notes: This song is sung in Japanese, but backwards. The first line of the song, as sung, is "idolem urodo iatu a wi rot;" the Japanese is therefore "tori wa utai odoru melody." The end result is that it kind of sounds like Japanese, yet doesn't at all. Quite odd.
8. Estrelas (Stars)
Language: Portuguese
Song: Melody of Lute
From: Final Fantasy IV
Notes: I've never really liked the original song, but I like this. Odd how these things work out.
9. Kami no Yurikago (God's Cradle)
Language: Japanese
Song: Relm's Theme
From: Final Fantasy VI
Notes: I have a hard time hearing the original in this song (and I've heard the original quite a few times). Maybe it's just me.
10. Love Will Grow
Language: English
Song: Finale
From: Final Fantasy II
Notes: I love this song. 8D I really like FFII's music in general, so the vocal collection songs are great to me.
11. Prelude
Language: English
Song: Prelude (?)
From: Final Fantasy (?)
Notes: I definitely don't hear the usual "prelude" music in this song, so I have no idea if it's based on a specific game's version of the prelude or anything.
